Vietnamese Beef Pho


Vietnamese Beef Pho

4 cups beef broth
1 large onion
6 slices fresh ginger root
1 lemon grass
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
1/2 kg beef, cut into thin slices
fish balls


garnishings:
bean sprouts
fresh basil leaves
fresh mint leaves
cilantro leaves
red chillies
2 limes, cut into wedges

dried rice noodles

accompaniments:
1/2 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 dash hot pepper sauce
3 tablespoons fish sauce
sugar


In a large soup pot, combine broth, onion, ginger, lemon grass, cinnamon, and peppercorns. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and cover. Simmer for 1 hour. Add in beef and fish balls.

Arrange bean sprouts, mint, basil, and cilantro on a platter with chilies and lime.

Soak the noodles in hot water to cover for 15 minutes or until soft. Drain. Place equal portions of noodles into soup bowls. Ladle hot broth over noodles. Spoon in the sauces and sprinkle some sugar, to taste.

pasal nak menghabiskan makanan not a problem....tengoklah mama and papa Elsa.....bulat dan montel.....sedap tak sedap belakang cerita. Actually, I'm lucky to have a family yang not at all fussy about food....so, tak payahlah Muna kena masak berasingan to cater to their individual needs...

Mamasya -- Ya, betul....kalau nak ringkas boleh juga gunakan beef stock cubes.....
