Fish In Spicy Nyonya-Style Gravy

6 pieces cod fillet
1 tsp tumeric powder
a little oil

Rub fish with tumeric, salt and oil. Put it under a hot grill for approximately 15 minutes, or until they are cooked.

5 tablespoons of cooking oil
1 cup tamarind juice
3 tomatoes, quartered
1 red pepper, cut into strips
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon sugar
Salt to taste

Spice Paste:

1 clove garlic
1 stalk of lemon grass
4 shallots
8-10 dried chillies (depends how spicy you like)
1/2 tablespoon of prawn paste

Processed the spice paste ingredients in a food processor. Set aside.
Heat oil and fry the spice paste for 2 minutes or until fragrant.
Add the tamarind juice and bring to boil.
Add the tomato wedges, red pepper and sliced onion. Season with salt and sugar.
Pour gravy over grilled fish and it's ready to be served.
