This recipe was invented for Queen Elizabeth's coronation in 1953.
I made some changes to the original recipe by omitting tomato paste and adding lemon juice instead.
As a young girl, I was always attracted to my mom's numerous collections of recipe books and spent countless hours looking through the coloured photographs.
This Goodhousekeeping Recipe book was one of my mom's. It was a gift to her from her auntie. The book was published in 1953 and the recipes are still as valid now as it was in the 50s. Perhaps I will hand it down to my daughter, as did my mom to me......
